Earlier this week, former Braves starter Julio Teheran elected free agency after opting out of his minor league deal with the San Diego Padres. Teheran was struggling with the Triple-A El Paso Chihuahuas, posting a 5.63 ERA over 40 starts. That gamble paid off, as he has now signed a major league deal with the Milwaukee Brewers.

Like the Braves, the Brewers are a good team that has seen their rotation ravaged by injuries. For that same reason, I thought the Braves would consider a reunion with Teheran.
However, he’s headed to Milwaukee, which has had success with former Braves in 2023. Bryse Wilson has a 2.92 ERA with the big league club in 2023, even notching two saves. He’s also a lot younger than Teheran, but he should provide them with, at worst, a couple of mop up innings. Teheran is still tied for the most consecutive Opening Day starts in Braves history with six, and I hope he finds some success in Milwaukee and revives his career.
