Jalen Williams and Cody Williams Have Discussed Teaming Up in the NBA

The Oklahoma City Thunder have enjoyed the development of Jalen Williams throughout his young NBA career.

In year two the Santa Clara product is making an All-Star level impact, taking over last in games and is playing a massive part in OKC's success. 

While the Thunder certainly hit on the No. 12 overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, Sam Presti still sits on a mountain of assets, possessing the ability to shake up the 2024 NBA Draft. 

One of the top names in the class is Colorado's Cody Williams, the Brother of the second-year Thunder forward. 

In an interview with CBS Sports, Jalen and Cody Williams gave a peak behind the curtain into their unique bond as soon to be a rare brother duo in the NBA. 

"Being the younger brother, [I] kinda had to follow in his footsteps in terms of going to all of his practices because my parents were working late," Cody Williams told CBS. "So the big thing was being with him 24/7 when he's in the gym and learning from him. He was kicking my butt throughout the years growing up. … I got my mentality from him because he wasn't recruited heavily at all as he should've been."

In a matter of months, the brothers will join elite company, both being selected in the NBA Draft Lottery. 

"That brought us closer together and allowed me to mentor him there," Jalen Williams said to CBS Sports. "That's kinda why I think he has a head start with a lot of it because he's been working out with me for so long and doing a lot of the same stuff I was doing. … We had a lot of fun doing it, too. We have a lot of good memories of us kinda getting stranded in the court and having to just sit there for hours and wait for our parents to pick us up while we played basketball."

Currently, the Thunder project to own No. 9 and No. 11 picks in the NBA Draft, which might be too late for the Swiss-Army Knife forward. However, with the amount of draft capital Oklahoma City owns, anything is possible. 

"We always used to joke that the one way we would be able to play on the same team is if we were in the NBA," Cody Williams revealed to CBS Sports. "We have been saying that since I was like 8 (years old) and he was 11 or 12. Now, that could actually be a reality."

Aside from being the brother of the Thunder's rising star, the Colorado product fits Oklahoma City's style of play and is one of the best prospects in the class that could make an instant impact on a contending team.
