Best remaining players after Day 2 of 2024 NFL Draft

The second and third rounds of the 2024 NFL Draft have come and gone, but there are still several hidden gems to find in what is viewed as a very deep draft class.

Players such as Bears RB Roschon Johnson (No. 115), Raiders QB Aidan O'Connell (No. 135), Rams WR Puka Nacua (No. 177) and Patriots WR Demario Douglas (No. 210) were among those still available heading into Day 3 last year.

Here are the best remaining players following Day 2 this year.

Wide receiver Troy Franklin, Oregon

Franklin is the best receiver still available following the first two days but it's up for debate as to why. He needs to continue getting stronger at just 187 pounds but has more than enough production to prove he should have been drafted before Day 3.

Over the past two seasons, Franklin has reeled in 142 catches for 2,274 yards and 23 touchdowns.

Tight end Ja'Tavion Sanders, Texas

Many viewed Sanders as the second-best tight end in the class behind only Georgia's Brock Bowers, but that's not how things have played out. Two more tight ends (Kansas State's Ben Sinnott and Illinois' Tip Reiman) were selected on Day 2, leaving Sanders on the outside looking in.

Still, the 6-foot-4, 243-pound tight end shouldn't have to wait too long on Saturday after posting 99 catches for 1,295 yards and seven touchdown catches from 2022-23.

Cornerback T.J. Tampa, Iowa State

There was an early run on cornerbacks at the start of Day 2, but Tampa was the odd man out. He needs to clean up his footwork but has the capability to be a starting outside corner right away.

The 6-foot-2, 200-pound corner has 101 tackles, three interceptions and 19 passes defensed the past three years.

QB Spencer Rattler, South Carolina

It's very surprising that Rattler, who was once touted as a potential No. 1 overall draft pick, is still available following Day 2. However, after six quarterbacks were selected in the first 12 picks of the draft, none heard their names called on Friday.

That will not be the case on Day 3 after Rattler made significant strides following his transfer from Oklahoma, throwing for 6,212 yards and 37 touchdowns over the past two seasons.

Linebacker Jeremiah Trotter Jr., Clemson

Most believed Trotter Jr., the son of former Eagles linebacker Jeremiah Trotter, was among the top linebackers in the draft class and would be a second or third-round pick.

However, he is somehow still on the board at the end of Day 2. His NFL bloodline mixed with his 176 tackles, 12 sacks, three forced fumbles, four interceptions, 10 passes defensed and two touchdowns from 2022-23 should prevent his wait from going much longer.

Day 3 of the 2024 NFL Draft kicks off at noon ET on Saturday and all five of these players should hear their names called sooner rather than later.
