Watch: Damien Harris Powers in for TD vs. Bears
Daniel Bartel-USA TODAY Sports

Buffalo Bills running back Damien Harris got the scoring started in Saturday's preseason finale against the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field.

Harris, who is entering his first year with Buffalo, capped off a 12-play, 72-yard drive with a short, two-yard touchdown on his first carry of the day.

James Cook got the bulk of the work on Buffalo's opening drive with four carries for 18 yards, but Harris finished things off by powering it in to give the Bills a 7-0 lead.

Take a look:

As the top option in 2021 with the New England Patriots, Harris shined. He posted career-high numbers in carries (202), rushing yards (929) and rushing touchdowns (15) and had just two fumbles (both lost) for the season. These are starter-worthy numbers in Buffalo if he can remain consistent and healthy, which is good news considering Cook will likely get most of the carries and action in the passing game out of the backfield.

He revealed that his decision to sign a one-year deal with the Bills came down to his confidence in helping them reach their championship expectations.

"I always said that playing against the Bills, I felt like brought out the best in me as a competitor and as a player," Harris said. "And from the outside looking in as an opponent, if I felt that way, then I knew that if I was able to join this organization, I feel like I could just take it to a new height."

The Bills hold their 7-0 lead over Chicago as the first quarter comes to a close.
